Insta360 gifted me the Ace Pro 2 in June 2026. The opinions are my own.
I have been using the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 since June 2026. Mine is the Arctic White Limited Edition, and it is the camera I take for the all-terrain side of my shoots.
What I used before
Nothing. I did not have another camera for this kind of shooting.
Insta360 Ace Pro 2: the key specs
Sensor and lens. A 1/1.3-inch 8K sensor, with a Leica Summarit lens and a 157 degree field of view.
The chips. Two of them, which is what makes this camera different from the first Ace Pro: a dedicated imaging chip for noise reduction, and a 5nm AI chip for everything else, with twice the computing power of the previous model.
Video. Up to 8K at 30 frames per second, 4K at 60 with Active HDR, and 4K at 120 for slow motion.
Low light. PureVideo, a dedicated night mode with AI noise reduction, up to 4K60.
Battery. Up to 180 minutes in endurance mode, at 1080p24 in a lab. In real use, plan on far less, but it lasts a day of travel with a second battery.
Storage. No internal memory, microSD up to 1TB.
Photos. Up to 50MP stills.
Waterproof. Down to 12 metres, straight out of the box, no case needed.
Screen. A 2.5-inch touchscreen that flips up, so you can frame yourself. It is brighter and denser than the previous one, which matters in full sun.
Colour. Leica profiles, Natural, Vivid, B&W High Contrast and Eternal, plus a long list of film looks.
Arctic White Limited Edition. Technically, it is the same camera as the black Ace Pro 2. Only the design changes, with an all-white finish and matching accessories.
What I love about the Ace Pro 2
1. It is waterproof
It is waterproof straight out of the box, without a housing.
2. It is very versatile
One small camera for a lot of different situations: in the water, on a strap, on a table, in the hand.
Where it shines in my work: hotel bathrooms and pools, where I would not take the GR III. Rain. Boats. Anywhere I want to keep filming without thinking about the camera.
3. It is perfect for still frames
It is a great camera to shoot still frames: fixed shots where the camera does not move, and life moves inside the frame.
4. The grip turns it into a compact camera
With the Xplorer grip, the Ace Pro 2 gets the shape of a real camera.
5. I also use it for photography
Beyond video, I use the Ace Pro 2 as a photo camera. Two reels to show it:

The downside
The grip battery. It is the only downside I found.
What other reviews point out, so you know before you buy: 8K30 files are heavy and eat cards and batteries, the lens guard is removable but scratches easily, and the microphone, even with the wind guard, is still an action camera microphone rather than a vlogging one.
My favourite setting
The Leica filter. It is the look I use.
Accessories I use
- The Xplorer bundle, with its grip that gives the camera a compact camera shape.
Who should buy the Ace Pro 2?
- People on a smaller budget than the Luna Ultra. It is more affordable.
- Vloggers. It works well for vlogging.
- Anyone looking for a first action camera that is this versatile.
If your budget is higher and vlogging is your main use, read my Insta360 Luna Ultra review.
Price
The standard bundle launched at $399.99 in the United States, which is less than the first Ace Pro. The Xplorer bundles add the grip and the accessories that turn it into a compact camera.
Insta360 Ace Pro 2 FAQ
Is the Ace Pro 2 waterproof without a case?
Yes, down to 12 metres straight out of the box, and 60 metres with the dive case.
Is it good for photos?
Yes, up to 50MP, and I use it as a photo camera, not only for video.
Ace Pro 2 or Luna Ultra?
The Ace Pro 2 if you want something rugged, waterproof and cheaper. The Luna Ultra if your main job is vlogging and you want the gimbal and the detachable screen.
What is the Arctic White Limited Edition?
The same camera as the black one, with a white finish and matching accessories.
Does it shoot in low light?
Yes, with PureVideo, its night mode, up to 4K60.
Final thoughts
Waterproof, versatile, great for still frames, and with the grip, a camera that feels like a compact camera. More affordable than the Luna Ultra, the Ace Pro 2 is a great choice for vlogging, or as a first action camera.
